Practical answer
Before removal, photograph the machine, mounting direction, seals, locking arrangement and lubricant condition. Mark inner ring, outer ring, rolling elements, cage, seals and mating parts separately so components from different machines cannot be mixed.
Record operating time, load, speed, temperature, lubricant grade and relubrication interval, together with noise, vibration and recent maintenance changes. Use clean protective packaging if the parts will be examined elsewhere.
