Practical answer
Photograph the bearing markings, package label and machine nameplate clearly. Retain the brand, basic designation and every clearance, seal, cage or execution suffix. A partial family number is rarely enough for a reliable quotation.
If the marking is unreadable, measure bore, outside diameter and width, then state whether the unit uses a housing, flange, adapter sleeve or special seal. A ruler in a photo is only a guide; use dependable measurements for selection.

- Clear photos of the bearing, package label and mounting position
- Bore, outside diameter, width, shaft and housing dimensions
- Machine, position, speed, load and operating temperature
Record for enquiry or analysis
- Quantity and required delivery date
- Whether an equivalent brand is acceptable
- Dust, moisture, washdown, corrosion or shock conditions
- Failure symptoms and the date of the latest maintenance work
